Who is Byron White?

Former Supreme Court Justice Byron "Whizzer" White was runner-up in voting for the 1937 Heisman Trophy. He was the number four pick in the first round of the NFL draft, and played on the Pittsburgh Pirates (now Steelers) in 1938 and The Detroit Lions in 1940-41. He lead the league in rushing in '38 and '40 (in '39 he was away on a Rhodes Scholarship). Byron White served as an associate judge in the U.S. Supreme Court from his 1962 appointment by President John Fitzgerald Kennedy, until his retirement in 1993 when he was succeeded by Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
